Many individuals with ADHD may also have additional difficulties in their motor skills, including problems with their coordination and may often appear physically clumsy.
The aim of Physiotherapy for individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is to maximise their functional ability and develop motor skills to minimise the risk of pain and postural problems. Physiotherapy will aim to support, develop and improve any physical or motor skill difficulties.
An initial assessment carried out by the physiotherapist will evaluate the type and severity of the individual’s difficulties and indicate what the most appropriate treatment will be. They type of intervention given will be dependent on the individual. The physiotherapist will implement an individualised treatment plan which will be specifically tailored to the individual’s needs and abilities.
